Car dealer charged with stealing Sh 4 million

A car dealer has been charged with stealing Sh 4.2  million from clients.

Newton Kimathi Kirimi, 32, is accused of stealing Sh 1,850,000 the property of Francis Kamau Kuria  by falsely pretending he was in a position to sell a Honda Fit and Toyota Probox, a fact he knew to be false.

Kirimi is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between 8th November 2021 and 6th January 2022 at Newton’s Auto Limited on Jabavu lane, Kilimani sub-county in Nairobi.

The accused person is also charged with the offence of stealing by agent. 

It is alleged that Kirimi, being an agent of Crystal Wawira Njoka, stole Sh 2,350,000 being the proceeds of the sale of a vehicle, the property Njoka, which had been entrusted to him for disposition.

The car dealer is alleged to have committed the offence on 17th April 2022.

He was also charged with issuing a bad cheque of Sh 600,000.

He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

The court granted him a bond of Sh 500,000 with alternative cash bail of Sh 300,000.
