Court summons Amaan gas ltd directors

Hassan Mohamed Mohamud, John Theuri Mathenge and Agostine Maina Njuguna before court where they pleaded not guilty to LPG trade related offences

The directors of Amaan Gas Limited have been summoned to appear in court to plead to charges of trading with gas cylinders of other companies without owners’ consent.

Senior Resident Magistrate David Ndungi issued the summons after Hassan Mohamed Mohamud and Abdikalik Rashid Mohamed failed to appear in court to plead to the charges against them

Mohamud, Mohamed and their company are accused of being found dealing with empty LPG cylinders of Safe gas, Pro gas, Oilibya, Hashi gas, Lake gas, Gas yetu, Tisha gas among others without prior written consent from the licensed owners in the contravention of the law.

The accused persons are alleged to have committed the offence on 24th March 2021 at Amaan Gas Limited L.P.G storage and filing station facility located along sabaki area in Athi River, Machakos County, jointly with others not before court.

However, three men Hassan Mohamed Mohamud, John Theuri Mathenge and Agostine Maina Njuguna who are charged alongside the directors did appear in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. 

Mathenge is also denied the offence of using a motor vehicle found dealing with the said cylinders without prior license from the owners. He is alleged to have committed the offence jointly with others not before court.

Njuguna also denied the charge of transporting the said gas cylinders without being licensed to transport LPG. They were granted a bond of Sh 200,000 and alternative cash bail of Sh 50,000
