DCI dropped PS Kibicho as complaint in DP Ruto’s fake assassination letter case

An investigator of the fake letter of assassination of DP William Ruto has told court that ministry of interior PS Karanja Kibicho was the complaint against Denis Itumbi but was dropped by the DCI.

The officer, Corporal Yvonne Anyango told Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku that PS Kibicho was dropped in the matter by the DCI for reasons not known to her.

During cross-examination by Itumbi’s lawyer Katwa Kigen, the investigating officer also confirmed that his co-accused Samuel Gateri was supposed to be their witness in the case and was arrested after he commented on the letter.

It was her testimony that Itumbi’s phone had been reprogrammed at the time she was doing her investigations so that they could not get the data.

Katwa demanded Corporal Anyango to explain to the court why she requested the court to detain Itumbi for 14 days to allow her get forensic data when it only took six minutes to be extracted, according to court documents.

In her response, the officer said that she consulted with forensic experts who had said it will take 14 days.

She also stated that she only investigated four people out of 256 members of the Tanga Tanga WhatsApp group as opposed to the earlier police application to detain Itumbi.

The court heard that the letter had earlier been circulating in another group which calked “Kiambu forum” which the investigating officer did not investigate.
She confirmed that she only investigated the Itumbi’s Tanga Tanga group where she obtained the letter shared by him.

The accused is charged with forging the alleged assassination letter.
