Energy Regulatory director general charged with corruption

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority Director General has been charged with corruption before a Nairobi court.

Robert Pavel Obwoto Oimeke is accused of requesting for Sh 500, 000 bribe from Wycliffe Odhiambo Oyoo via whatsapp with intent that in consequence he would authorize the unsealing and opening of Nyang’inja filling station based at Oyugis in Homa Bay County. He is alleged to have committed the offence on 2nd december 2020.

Oimeke is also charged with receiving a bribe of Sh100, 000 from Oyoo with intent that he will authorize the unsealing and opening of the said petrol station. The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on 10th December 2020.

He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti and was released on a bond of Sh 700, 000 or alternative cash bail of Sh 200, 000.
