Gold fraud:Kenyan, Mali national charged with defrauding businessman Sh 7 million

A Kenyan and a Mali national have been charged with defrauding Sh 7 million in a gold scam gold.

Chris Mugisha (Kenyan) and Albachary Mohamed lias Abdoulay Bashir are accused obtaining Sh 7,095,000 from Hwalla Karim by falsely pretending that they were in position to export for him 20 kilograms of gold bars from Kenya to Beirut, Lebanon, a fact they knew was false.

The accused persons are alleged to have committed the offence on 17th February 2021at Delight apartments along Diani road in Kilimani within Nairobi County, jointly with others not before court, with intent to defraud.

Mohamed was also charged with being in Kenya illegally.

They denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku and were granted a bond of Sh 2 million or cash bail of Sh1 million each. In addition, the court ordered that they deposit their passports in court.
