House party, Murder, three arrests:Kilimani

A Nairobi court has allowed police to detain three people suspected to be involved in the murder of a woman in Kilimani area, Nairobi for a further 14 days to complete investigations.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Kenneth Cheruiyot, investigating officer Corporal John Mmasi informed the court that the suspects, Christine Awuor Aluoch, Shem Luanga Mang’ula and Claire Chepkoech Ng’eno are suspected to have killed the deceased whom they were partying with in a house at Santonio Courts in Kilimani.

The court heard that the police needed time to exhaust investigative procedures on the respondents such as statement recording, DNA sampling, data analysis, retrieval of CCTV footage, lifting of their fingerprints among others.

“The body of the deceased is at the City mortuary awaiting postmortem which is vital to establish the actual cause of death,” Mmasi told the court.

He added that the body of the deceased, identified as Sheila Njeri Murage, was found in the morning of 17th July 2020 outside Santonio Courts apartments lying outside, near a flower bed.

Corporal Mmasi further stated that preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and an identified group of people were at a party drinking in a house marked B03 on the second floor of the apartment which belongs to the third respondent, Ng’eno.

“The party went on inside the said house and it is confirmed that the three respondents were physically present in the aforementioned house during that material time,” Mmasi added.

The court heard that the respondents’ explanation of the whereabouts of the deceased raises questions due to the contradicion brought to light by inconsistencies in their statements.

The deceased had physical injuries on her back, blood oozing from her nose, bruises on her wrist area and her clothes were torn.
