The Assets Recovery Agency has moved to court seeking orders to preserve two high end vehicles belonging to controversial businessman Jared Kiasa Otieno.

According to the agency, it suspects that the vehicles, Porsche Panamera 2015 and Bentley Continental GT 2019 owned by Otieno are reasonably suspected to have been purchased from proceeds of crime.

According to court documents, the agency received information on ongoing criminal investigations involving the businessman who allegedly obtained USD 3,000,000 from Simuong Group Company Limited fraudulently.

ARA wants court to issue orders against Otieno, his employees, agents, servants or any other persons acting on his behalf from selling, transferring or disposing off or other dealings with with the two vehicles.

Preliminary investigations have established that the firm of Okundi & company advocates received millions of shillings from Simuong company limited through the law firm account held at Stanbic Bank and also disbursed the funds to the ultimate beneficiaries.

These money was allegedly wired to Otieno’s account who then wired part of it to Bentley dealers.

Otieno has several cases against him and co-conspirators where they are charges with receiving million of shillings from foreigners from Dubai, Brazil, South Africa among other countries pretending that he was in a position to sell to them genuine gold, a fact he knew to be false.

Otieno who runs several other companies has denied the allegations against him.

Some of the criminal cases have already been concluded and the accused persons found not guilty of the offences, others have been settled out of court while others are still ongoing.
