Kiandani self-help group Chair charged after obtaining 10M

The Chairperson of Kiandani self-help group chairman and a shareholder have been charged with conspiracy to defraud Sh 10.5 million.

The group Chair Musau Maundu Muide and the group member Justice Peter Katua are accused of obtaining 10.3 million from Stephen Waithiru Baiya by falsely pretending they were in a position to sell 160 shares.

The shares comprise a prime piece of land next to Konza city in Machakos.

The two are alleged o have committed the offence between 8th July and 13th October 2017 jointly with others not before court.

The two are also charged with obtaining Sh 10.3 million from Baiya by pretending they were in a position to sell to him the shares in a prime piece of land next to Konza.

The court heard that the two obtained the money on similar dates.

The accused pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and were granted a bond of Sh 1 million or a cash bail of Sh 500,000.
