A lawyer has been charged in a Nairobi court with conspiracy to defraud parcels of land in Kajiado County.

Alex Kibunja Ngure is accused of conspiring to defraud one Anthony Dominic Kibathi of his two parcels of land known as Kajiado/Kaputei North/34725 and Kajiado/Kaputei North/34726 measuring 0.03 hactares each all valued at Sh 10 million by fraudulently transferring them to Jane Kibathi Njoroge, Anthony’s alleged ex wife.

The lawyer is alleged to have committed the offense on or before 6th March 2015 in Nairobi jointly with others not before court. He denied the charges before Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe.

The court heard that the complainant had logged a complaint before Law Society of Kenya (LSK) against the accused, which was dismissed. Anthony was arrested at Kiambu Law Courts by three officers.

The property which is 20 kilometers away from Kitengela town is in the middle of a dispute between the accused and Jane, who currently resides in the United Kingdom.

The prosecution had opposed the release of the lawyer on bond saying the offense against him is serious.

After considering the submissions by both the defense and the prosecution, the magistrate granted the accused a bond of Sh 200,000 or alternative cash bail of Sh 50,000. The matter will be mentioned on 20th August and will be heard on 20th September 2018.
