Man charged over Sh 13 million MOH fake tender

A man impersonating a Ministry of Health procurement officer has been charged with obtaining over Sh 13 million from a businessman using a fake tender.

David Kahi Ambuku alias doctor Lugonze is said to have obtained medical equipment worth Sh 5.7 million from Ibrahim Aden by falsely pretending that a tender and a local purchase order (LPO) dated 4th May 2020 were genuine from Ministry of Health to enable the complainant to supply the said goods to the Ministry, a fact he knew was false.

Ambuku is alleged to have committed the offence on 8th May 2020 at Digital Marketing Limited located at Danhill building in Westlands, Nairobi jointly with others not before court.

The accused is further charged with obtaining Sh 7,415,000 from Aden by falsely pretending that a tender No:MOH/DPPH/DNMP/001/GF-ONT/2019-2020 and the LPO were genuine and from MOH.

He is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between 11th and 15th May this year at Tasia in Embakasi in Nairobi county.

Ambuku also facing charges of falsely presenting himself as a government procurement officer at the Ministry of Health headquarters, forging the LPO with intent to deceive and making an instrument capable of making the impression of a stamp for Principal Secretary, ministry of health address in Nairobi.

He denied the charges before Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe who granted him a bond of Sh 2 million or cash bail of Sh1 million.
