Man charged with obtaining Sh 5 million by false pretences

A businessman has been charged with obtaining Sh 5 million by false pretences.

Benson Ritho Muriithi is accused of obtaining the money from Francis Njoronge Muia by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell him two parcels of land.

He is alleged to have committed the offence between 23rd August 2011 and 30th September 2014 in Nairobi county with intent to defraud.

Muriithi denied the charge before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku and was released on a cash bail of Sh 1 million. The case will be mentioned on 22nd March 2020.
