MAYA E.A ltd director in court over counterfeit goods

Maya E.A limited director has been charged with counterfeit goods related offences.

Mohamed Musa Noor is accused of having in his possession counterfeit goods in the course of trade, namely 66 small boxes of Mega Mandazi baking powder without authority of Global Investment Development Limited the owner of trademark No. 15660 ” Chapa Mandashi” which goods imitated the protected goods in such a manner and to such a degree that those counterfeit goods are substantially similar to the protected goods.

Noor is alleged to have committed the offence on 9th April this year jointly with others not before court at a warehouse located at Masai Mara road along Mombasa road in Nairobi.

The businessman and his company are also charged with importing 200 cartons of the counterfeit baking powder into Kenya through the Uganda-Busia border without authority of Global Investment.

The court further heard the accused person disposed off the said baking powder.

He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Kenneth Cheruiyot.

He was granted a bond of Sh 900,000 and one surety of a similar amount of Sh 300,000.

The case will be mentioned on 6th August and will be heard on 19th August 2019.
