Men detained for trespassing Karen land charged

Four men who were detained for allegedly trespassing a top politician’s land in Karen, Nairobi have been charged before a Nairobi court

Mohammed Mohammud Wako alias Hussein Mohammed, James Owino Opere, Jonah Saluuni Tuuko and Samakini Lesingiran are accused that on 3rd January 2022, at Windy Ridge Lane in Karen, jointly with another before court, entered land parcel LR No. 1159/88 of M/S Goodison Trust Corporation Limited in order to take possession by violently breaking and entering the said property.

Wako faces 11 other counts among them forgery, making documents without authority, making false documents, and conspiracy to defraud.

The court heard that on unknown date within Kenya, Wako made a false deed plan No.422362 dated 23rd September 2020 purporting it to be a valid deed and genuine deed issued by the Director Surveys with intent to defraud Goodison Trust the land which is valued at Sh 350 million.

Wako is also charged with making several other deed plans for the same land without authority.

The accused person is further charged with five counts of forgery for allegedly forging the signature of one Stephen Maina Gitira, a deed plan officer and purported the same to be genuine.

All the four accused persons denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Jane Kamau.

Wako was granted a bond of Sh two million with alternative cash bail of Sh one million while his four co-accused persons were granted a bond of Sh 500,000 with alternative cash bail of Sh 200,000 each.
