More suspects in Sh 180M fake laptop tender in name of DP’s office charged

Two more people have been charged over the Sh 180 million fake laptop tender in the name of the office of Deputy President William Ruto.

Charles Kamolo Musinga and Solomon Mwema are accused of conspiring with intent to defraud by means of offering alleged tender document L.P.O No.POQ422 under the name of the office of the DP for the supply of 2,800 pieces of laptops make HP Pavilion 8th generation valued at 180M.

The two are also charged with making an LPO without authority and purporting it to be genuine and signed by officer Mulinge, an assistant procurement officer at the office e of the DP.

The accused persons are lastly charged with obtaining goods by false pretenses by obtaining the said 2,800 laptops from Makindu Motors Limited along Nairobi-Mombasa highway purporting their tender was genuine.

Musinga and Mwema are alleged to have committed the offenses between May and August 2018.

They pleaded not guilty before Senior Principal Magistrate Kenneth Cheruiyot.

They were granted a bond of Sh 2 million and one surety or a cash bail of Sh 500,000. They were also directed to provide one contact person.

The case will be mentioned on 24th March for consolidation with another similar case already before court.
