Nairobi county gov’t employee, 3 others charged with corruption

A Nairobi county government employee and three others have been charged with receiving a bribe and impersonation.

Jacinta waceera Macharia, Kimolel Korir Philip , Nancy Nanyama Wamang’oli and Stanley Mwaniki Muriithi are accused that on 11th April 2019 at Mathenge gardens off lower kabete road in Nairobi county, being a person employed by Nairobi County Government as a research assistant and private persons respectively, jointly conspired to commit an offence of corruption by requesting a bribe of 100,000 from Khilan Bhikhalal Shah failure to which they would forbear charge him for operating business without a permit.

The four accused persons are also charged with requesting for financial advantage of Sh 60,000 from Shah.

Additionally, Kimolel is charged alone with receiving financial advantage of Sh 60,000 from the businessman, failure to which they charge him for operating business without a permit.

Kimolel, Wamang’oli and Muriithi are also charged with falsely presenting themselves as persons employed by Nairobi County government and assumed to be inspecting business permits.

They denied the charges before anti-corruption Chief Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi and were released on a bond of 200,000 and cash bail of 100,000.
