Police officers accused of assaulting advocate to try out of court settlement

Court has given two police officers accused of assaulting an advocate time to settle the matter through alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

Benedict Mugo and Moses Labu Kengere are accused of assaulting Joseph Kinuthia Nyambura of Mogaka &Co. Advocates thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

The officers are alleged to have committed the offence on 23rd January 2022 within Dandora Police Station in Nairobi.

Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo directed the matter to be mentioned on Monday to allow time for ADR.

The victim’s lawyers agreed to try and settle the matter through ADR by Monday 27th, failure to which they shall appear in court for plea taking.
