A Safaricom PLC employee has been charged with stealing Sh 45,000 from a deceased person’s account.
Peter Odhiambo Ochieng is accused of conspiring with others not before court to steal by accessing Safaricom line of deceased Janet Khaniri, the wife of Wilson Karani Khaniri and did steal Sh 45,600.
Ochieng is alleged to have committed the offence on 26th July this year at an unknown place in Kenya by virtue of his employment.
The accused is further charged with stealing the above monies on the same dates.
Ochieng denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku.
The court was informed that the accused has another case of a similar nature already before court.
He was granted a bond of Sh 200,000 or an alternative cash bail of Sh 100,000.
The case will be mentioned on 27th August and will be heard on 23rd September 2019.
