The Supreme Court Registrar has confirmed that the appeal by Mombasa County Gubernatorial aspirant Mike Sonko was filed within the stipulated timeline
Letizia Wachira said that the ICT department has confirmed the appeal over Sonko’s impeachment was filed on time in accordance with the constitution.
This is contrary to an affidavit filed by Nairobi County Governor Ann Kananu alleging that the appeal was failed out of time.
The registrar avers that the contention by Kananu and the County Assembly of Nairobi does not hold water.
Sonko’s appeal was lodged 4th April 2022. He was impeached as Nairobi County Governor. He is currently on a battle for his home county Mombasa Governor seat.
