Suspected terrorists linked to abduction of Italian volunteer detained for 30 more days

Police have obtained orders to detain three terror suspects believed to be linked to the abduction of an Italian volunteer for 30 days to allow police to complete investigations.

Mohamed Abdirahman, Aden Hassan and Ibrahim Ali are suspected to be involved in  the abduction of the lady on 20th November 2018 in Kilifi County.

The suspects were arrested in Garissa Town on 18th January 2019 in possession of firearms without certificates.

The police believe that the three are at flight risk and should remain in custody pending detailed investigations. It is alleged that they have the financial capacity to interfere with investigations.

Investigators want the phone details of the suspects to know ho they have been communicating with both in and outside Kenya.

It is alleged that they have been in constant communication with other several numbers which are in Somalia.

Further, intelligence reports indicate that the suspects have other associates who assisted them in planning and executing the abduction.

Abdirahman who is a Kenyan is said to have facilitated the movement of Hassan and Ali from Somalia to Kenya.

After the incident that was carried allegedly carried out by eight armed men, eight 9mm spent cartridges, three bullet heads and a grenade pin were recovered.
