Three charged for being in possession of drugs without authority from Pharmacy and poisons Board

Three people have been charged with unlawfully being in possession of part 1 poisons contrary to pharmacy and poisons Act and carrying out a pharmacy business without being registered as pharmacist.

Naomi Syomiti, Jackson Mwangi and Samuel Kabui were charged that n 25th October 2018 at eNKEI center in Ngara Nairobi, were found carrying on the businesses of a pharmacist while not having been registered as pharmacists by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.

Syomiti and Mwangi faced another charge of being in possession of part 1 poison to wit; 7 tablets of Augmentin 625 mg, 72 tablets of Fleming 625 mg, 9 vials of Injection Depo Provera 150 mg/m, 36 tablets of Vega 100ms and 40 tablets of Tegretol 200 mg without authority from the board.

The two are also accused of being unregistered drugs to wit; 44 tablets of Nosic and 40 tablets of Tegretol 200 mg.

Kabui also faced a lone charge of unlawfully being in possession of part 1 poison 5 pieces of Probeta-N75ms, 50 tablets of Decodyl, 100 tablets of Bascopan among others without authority from the board.

Syomiti denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku and was granted a bond of Sh 500,000 or a cash bail of Sh 200,000. Warrants of arrest were issued against Mwangi and Kabui.

The case will be mentioned on 12th November for consolidation with another already before court.
