A University Of Nairobi lecturer was today charged with three counts of receiving and requesting bribe from a student in order to award him exam marks after he was found cheating on exam last semester and also demanding money with intent to steal
Vincent Mbindo Kathumo is alleged to have committed the first offence on 18th January 2017 at UON upper Kabete Campus.
On the first count, Kathumo is accused of requesting 5000 shillings from a student by the name Duncan Kibet in order to award him the exam marks.
On the second count, he was charged with receiving 3000 from the said student as part of the bribe at Uthiru area in Nairobi
On the third count, he was charged with demanding 2000 cash and 3000 shillings via m-pesa from Kibet with intent to steal. He denied all charges before anti-corruption magistrate Lawrence Mugambi and was released on a bond of 100,000 or a cash bail of 80,000.
The matter will be mentioned on 17th February 2017.
