Woodtech investment ltd director charged with fraud

The director of Woodtech Investment Limited has been charged with conspiracy to defraud National Co-operative Housing Union limited Sh 21 million.

Charles W. Mwangi Gathungwa is accused of conspiring to defraud the company by entering into a sale agreement with it to sell to them a parcel of Land LR.2358/10 situated within Mavoko Municipality knowing that the parcel of land in question did not belong to him.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on or about 23rd March 2012 at the office of M/s Ogola Okello & company advocates in Nairobi jointly with others not court.

Mwangi is also charged with obtaining Sh 21.6 million pretending he was the registered owner of the said land and was in a position to sell it.

He pleaded not guilty before Senior Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe.

The accused is further charged with forging the signature of Gladys Mwikali Muyanga, a land registrar, on a title in respect of LR.2358/10 IR 96472 dated 11th May 2010 without lawful authority.

He was granted a bond of Sh 10 million or pay a cash bail of 5 million.

The matter will be mentioned on 4th March 2020.
