Another employee of Equity Bank has been charged with stealing over Sh 1.2 million from the lender.
Gilbert Kiptoo Lelon, a teller at the said bank, is accused of stealing Sh 800,000 from an Equity Bank account, money which got to his possession by virtue of his employment.
Lelon is alleged to have committed the offense on 11th August 2024 at Equity Bank, Kahawa House Branch in Nairobi.
The accused person is also charged with stealing Sh 454,000 on 12th August 2025.
He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego.
The case will be mentioned on 18th August when a pre-bail report will be availed to assist the court in determining the appropriate bond terms.
