Another suspect in Sh 223M gold charged in Nairobi

Another suspect in the Sh 223 million gold fraud case has been charged in Nairobi.

David Onyango Ochanda is accused of obtaining USD 1,271,200.74 (Apprx. Sh 223,756,000 from Tannner Caldwell Cook by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell 2,820 kgs of gold to him, a fact he knew to be false.

Ochanda is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 31st March and 30th May 2024, jointly with others already before court.

The accused person is also charged with conspiring with others already before court to defraud Cook the said money.

He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego and was released on a cash bail of Sh 400,000.
