
Nairobi Car dealer Joseph Kairu Wambui alias Khalif Kairo has been with Sh 5 million fraud after allegedly failing to deliver two cars.
Kairo is accused of using fraudulent tricks to induce Dona Ayalo Okoth to transfer Sh 2,984,998 into Kai & Karo Limited account by falsely pretending that he would purchase a Subaru outback, a fact he knew to be false.
The businessman is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 29th July and 16th November 2024, at unknown location within the Republic of Kenya.
In another case, Kairo is accused of using fraudulent tricks to induce one Jeff Kyule Munane to pay through his company, Kai & Karo Limited Sh 2,145,150 towards importation of a Honda Vezel Hybrid from Japan, which he never delivered.
He is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 10th July and 29th July 2024, at Westlands Nairobi.
The online sensational businessman denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina.
The prosecution opposed his release on bail on grounds that he at flight risk and may abscond court.
His lawyers, Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombeta opposed the application to deny him bail.
Ombeta told the court that the businessman has no intention to abscond and has been cooperative with the investigators.
The court will deliver the ruling on bail opposition on Tuesday, 14th January 2025.
