Car used by man dressed as a traffic police officer to rob a businessman in Parklands was hired

A car used to rob a businessman by a man dressed as a traffic police officer in Parklands was hired.

The car was allegedly hired by the second suspect James Ngewa who was also the driver at the time of the incident.

After Ngewa was charged with robbery with violence before a Nairobi court, his lawyer made an application to have the car released to him.

The court heard that the continued detention of the car by police will make him continue to incur costs since it was hired.

However, the prosecution opposed the release of the said vehicle at the moment saying it is an exhibit in the case.

The suspects were caught on CCTV camera robbing a businessman Sh 999,000 in Parklands, Nairobi.

The suspects, James Ngewa and Ezekiel Muiya Mutuku alias Macho are facing robbery with violence charges.

Mutuku who was dressed a traffic police officer is further facing charges of possession of public stores charges after being found in possession of a Cap Peak with a white canvas Cap cover and a National police service Crown badge the property of National Police Service.

The accused persons are alleged to have committed the offense on 28th June, 2025 at First Parklands Avenue, Parklands area in Nairobi .
