Controversial businessman Elius Kemboi charged in two new fraud cases

Businessman Elius Kemboi Korir has been charged yet again in two cases involving millions of fraud.

In the first case, Korir is accused of obtaining goods worth Sh 15,633,200 from Mallow Brand Limited by falsely pretending that he was in a position to pay, a fact he knew to be false.

It is alleged that he committed the offense on 10th December 2022 at Women and Youth Against Aids and Poverty go down located at City Stadium, Nairobi, jointly with others not before court.

The alleged goods include 100 bags of 50Kgs brown sugar, 575 jerricans of 20 litres cooking oil, 770 jerricans of 20 litres of cooking oil and 1,600 bags of 25 Kgs of rice grade 1.

Korir is also charged with conspiring with others not before court to defraud Mallow Brand the said goods.

In another case, Korir is charged with obtaining 300 bags of beans valued at Sh 4,590,000 from Koch Limited.

It is alleged that the accused person obtaining the said beans by falsely pretending that they were being supplied to Women and Youth Against Aids and Poverty (WAYAAP) a public benfit organization which was to pay for the said goods.

Korir denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego. He was granted a total cash bail of Sh 2 million.

In addition, the businessman was granted a cash bail of Sh 1 million in another fraud case that he had pleaded not guilty.
