
A couple has been charged with possession of uncustomed vehicles.
Christine Njeri and Richard Wambui Nguli are accused of being found in possession of an uncustomed black Toyota Voxy chassis No. ZRR700128218 with a dutiable value of Sh 698,809 which they knew or ought to have reasonably known was uncustomed.
The couple is alleged to have committed the offense on 14th November 2024, at Joska area in Machakos County, jointly with others not before court.
Njeri and her partner are also accused of being in possession of a black Toyota Voxy chassis No. ZRR700248561 with a dutiable value of Sh 698,809, which they knew or ought to have reasonably known was uncustomed.
The duo is facing two charges of knowingly and unlawfully being concerned in fraudulent evasion of payment of duty amounting to Sh 1.3 million by diverting to Kenya the two vehicles transiting to South Sudan.
They denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo and were released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000 each.
