Court stops vetting of 51 PS nominees

The Employment and Labour Relation Court has temporarily stopped Parliament from receiving or vetting the 51 principal secretary nominees.

Justice Nzyoki wa Makau gave the order pending the hearing and determination of an application filed by the Law Society of Kenya opposing the nominees vetting.

“Pending the hearing and determination of this application inter partes on 21st November 2022, a conservatory order be and is hereby issued restraining and/or barring the respondents from receiving or if already received the list of nominees, baaring the processing, vetting, or in any way proceeding or processing the nomination for appointment and/or appointing the 1st to 51 interested parties herein as principal secretaries as communicated vide a press release dated 2nd November 2022 by Mr. Felix Kosgei, Head of Public Service,” the judge ruled.

The judge said that LSK had raised touching on the disparity, ethnic and gender balance.

The respondents are the Attorney General, the National Assembly  and the Public  Service  Commission.
