Engen Kenya Limited employee charged with stealing from Oilibya petroleum products worth millions

Engen Kenya Limited operations assistant has charged with stealing petroleum products worth over Sh 237 Million from OILIBYA Kenya limited.

Jediel Snelling Muchui Kithinji was charged that on diverse dates between January 2013 and September 2014 at OILIBYA Depot Industrial Area in Nairobi County, the accused person stole the products valued at Sh 237,585,492 jointly with others not before court.

The accused appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and denied the theft charges against him.

He was granted a bond of Sh 2 million or alternative cash bail of Sh 1 million.

Kithinji was arrested at his residence in Njiru area along Kangudo road September 8, 2018 after the prosecution obtained enough evidence among them an Audit report and other relevant documents.

It is alleged that the money was lost during a hospitality contract agreement between Engen Kenya limited and Oilibya to store their petroleum products at Industrial area deport in Nairobi for Two years.

The DCI is said to have started investigations into the matter in the year 2015. According to the police, Engen had sent Kithinji as their representative at the said deport where he conspired with others working there and managed to steal the said products.

The case will been mentioned on September 20 for pre-trial.
