
An Equity Bank employee has been with stealing over Sh 1.6 million from the bank.
Geoffrey Okochil Itwan is accused of stealing the Sh 1,614,104 from an Equity Investment Bank account.
Itwan is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 12th February and May 2024, at Equity Bank head office in Nairobi.
The accused person faces an alternative charge of handling stolen property.
It is alleged that otherwise than in the course of stealing, he dishonestly received the said money in his mpesa account knowing or having reasons to believe it to be stolen property.
He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo and was granted a cash bail of Sh 300,000 plus two contact persons.
