Four charged over Sh 178M gold scam

A DRC national and three Kenyans have been afresh charged over Sh 178 million gold scam.

Eric Kalala Mukendi (DRC), Emmanuel Wafula Othatcher, Wiili Kiplimo Meto and Ronald Osonga Khejeri are charged alongside Unaidisa Services Limited and Indipth Mining Limited.

The accused persons are accused of obtaining USD 1,388,262.76 from Tanner Caldwell Cook by falsely pretending that they were in a position to facilitate the sale of 3370 kgs of gold to him, fact they knew to be false.

It is alleged that they committed the offense on diverse dates between 31 March and 30th May, 2024 at Nairobi City County within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with others not before court.

Further, the accused persons are facing charges of conspiracy to obtain the said money from the foreign investor.

They denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and were released on bail pending the hearing and determination of the case.
