Four men in court after being found with several phones, toy gun, rubber bullets

Four men have been arraigned in court after being found in possession of several mobile phones, rubber bullets and a toy gun.

Gin Ammitou Abwao, Collins Karani Ireri, Brian Mwaniki Njue and Jeremiah Kagendo Gichovi were arraigned before Milimani Law Courts where the police sought orders to detain them for 14 days to conclude investigations.

According to an affidavit by Corporal Ben Muyei, police officers from central police station were on night patrol along Kenyatta Avenue when they spotted motor vehicle registration number KDL 290 B make Audi Al red in colour, parked near shell petrol station along Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi.

“In the said motor vehicle were four occupants, the respondent here-in, who were ordered to get out of the vehicle,” the investigating officer said.

It is alleged that the officers conducted a search in the said motor vehicle and recovered the following items Samsung S23 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy Ao4, 1 phone 14 Pro-max, Redmi 14c, Samsung S23 Ultra, Infinix 915 Oppo ASS, Revolver Toy Gun (White), AK47 CCCP Knife and Six Rubber Bullets

The officers proceeded to arrest the respondents and escorted them to Central Police Station

Corporal Muyei told the court that the investigating team needs the 14 days to conclude investigations

He said there is need to forward the said revolver toy gun to ballistic experts to ascertain if its capable of firing and the rubber bullets to ascertain if they are capable of being fired.

The suspects are believed to be having several houses located within Nairobi and Kiambu Counties where they are believed to in possession of other dangerous weapons being used for criminal activities within the cities and its environs.

“There is need to escort them to their houses and conduct a search to recover any other weapon,” the officer said.

It is suspected that the recovered mobile phones are stolen and contain crucial information that may assist the police in the investigation and need to be forwarded to the cybercrime expert for analysis.
