Hearing of case against Mukhtar Rehemtulla Omar pushed to February

The case in which a businessman is charged with regard to the expired diapers found in Mlolongo, Machakos County has been pushed to 4th February 2019.

Mukhtar Rehemtulla Omar was charged that together with others not before court, was found in different processes of erasing the manufacturers and expiry dates of 5094 bales of EZEE baby diapers.

Trial magistrate Martha Mutuku adjourned the matter on the ground that she had many matters coming up for hearing and could therefore not accommodate all.

Both the prosecution and the defense agreed to come back on 4th to kick off the hearing.

The businessman is also charged with offering for sale the expired baby diapers without a valid standardization mark printed in them.

Omar further faced a charged of applying Import Standardization mark (IS-mark) on the diapers without a valid permit issued by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).

He is alleged to have committed the offence on 11th October 2018 at Imperial Industrial Park godowns in Mlolongo area, Mavoko sub-county in Machakos with intent to offer for sale the substandard expired diapers.

He is out on a cash bail of Sh 200,000.
