Silverline Motors Limited import manager has been charged with stealing over Sh 16 million from the company.
Joseph Kabuya Thinwa is accused of steal the Sh 16,168,750 which got into his possession by virtue of his employment.
Thinwa is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 1st February and 31st August 2021 at Silverline Motors Ltd, Nairobi.
The accused is also charged with obtaining money by false pretenses.
According to the charge sheet, Thinwa obtained the said money from Silverline by falsely pretending that he was in a position to import vehicles for clients, a fact he knew to be false.
In addition, the accused, who is facing other criminal cases in court, is charged with conspiring with others not before court to obtain the said money.
Thinwa is accused of conspiracy to obtain the money from Robert Maina Ngumi trading as Silverline Motors Limited, money intended to import vehicles for clients from Kobe Motors Limited, Japan.
He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego.
The accused person was granted a bond of Sh 1 million with alternative cash bail of Sh 500,000.
