Lawyer charged with forging court order

A lawyer has been charged with forging a court court order.

Dennis Kamau Kariuki is accused of making a court order vide MCCRMISC/E3074/2024, purporting it to be a genuine court order issued by Milimani Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Kariuki is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 23rd and 6th September 2024 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, with intent to deceive and without lawful authority or excuse.

The accused who is based in Nakuru is also charged with uttering a false document.

According to the charge sheet, on the 6th September 2024 within the Republic of Kenya, Kariuki Knowingly and fraudulently uttered a forged court order vide MCCRMISC/E3074/2024, purporting it to be a genuine court order issued by Milimani Chief Magistrate’s Court.

The accused denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo and was released on bail.

Kariuki had previously opposed pleading to the charges on grounds that he was not mentally fit to stand trial.

The court heard that Kariuki had been undergoing depression following the demise of his motherĀ  a few months ago.

The case will be mentioned on 31st October for pre-trial.
