A man has been charged with conspiracy to steal Sh 309,000 from a foreigner for inspection of gold.
Obadiah Kipkemoi Langat alias Richard is accused of conspiring to steal the said money from Azimagli Serge Amani falsely pretending that he was in a position to facilitate the inspection of 200 KGS of gold bars which had been detained at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), a fact he knew to be false.
Langat is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 2nd and 6th August 2024, within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with another already before court.
He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Rose Ndombi and was released on a cash bail of Sh 150,000.
