Man charged with defrauding travel agent Sh 1.1M for Dubai jobs

A man has been charged with obtaining Sh 1.1 million from a travel agent to secure jobs in Dubai.

Francis Maina Keya is accused of obtaining Sh 1,180,180 from Regina Muthoni Mburu by falsely pretending that he would assist her secure jobs in Dubai for several of her clients.

Keya is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 1st March and 30th June 2024 at Shammar Jet Travel Agency.

He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and was granted a bond of Sh 500,000 with one surety of a similar amount.

Alternatively, the accused was granted a cash bail of Sh 250,000 and provide one contact person to secure his release pending the hearing and determination of the case.
