A man has been charged with obtaining registration of a Sh 100 million Pangani land by false pretenses.
Peter Gathii Reuben is accused of procuring for himself a land title registration of land parcel number L.R. 209/2389/19 valued at Sh 100 million, belonging to the late Bertha Wamina Mugo, by falsely pretending that he was the sole rightful proprietor of the said parcel of land, a fact he knew to be false.
Reuben is alleged to have committed the offense willfully and unlawfully on diverse dates between 21st February 2014 and 23rd June 2022 at the Nairobi lands registry, Ardhi House in Nairobj, jointly with others already before court.
The accused is also charged with conspiring with another before court to defraud the estate of the late Mugo of the said land by pretending that he had bought the said land from her.
In addition, Reuben is charged with making an allotment letter for the said land without authority and purporting it to be a genuine letter of allotment issued by the National Land Commission.
The accused is also facing charges of intermeddling with the property of the deceased.
He is alleged to have committed the offense on 22nd October, 2015 within Nairobi County, jointly with others before court, without any grant of representation or written law.
Reuben denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi
He was granted a bond of Sh 10 million with one surety of a similar amount.
Alternatively, he can deposit a cash bail of Sh 3 million to secure his release pending the hearing and determination of the case.
