Man charged with stealing St John Ambulance Sh 8M gloves

A man accused of stealing latex examination gloves worth Sh 8 million from St John Ambulance has been charged.

Moses Juma Wabwile and his accomplices who are yet to be arrested, are said to have by impersonated AMREF Health Africa officials.

Wabwile is accused of conspiring to commit a felony namely obtaining goods by false pretences and obtaining the gloves which are the property of St John Ambulance. 

The accused, jointly with others not before court obtained the goods by pretending they were procurement officers from AMREF, a fact they knew to be false.

Mabwile is alleged to have committed the offence between 4th and 8th February 2022 at an unknown place within Kenya.

The accused is also charged with stealing 5,000 packets of the Latex examination gloves valued at Sh 4 million.

Wabwile allegedly committed the offence on 4th February 2022 at St John Ambulance office in Nairobi.

Further, the accused is charged with stealing another 5,000 packets worth Sh 8 million on 8 February. He is alleged to have committed the offence jointly with others not before court.

Wabwile denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

He was granted a bond of Sh 3 million with one surety of a similar amount. He was also given an alternative cash bail of Sh 2 million and provide one contact person.
