Popular mugithi artist Samuel Muchoki alias Samidoh has told court that the scene of crime where his nephew Jeff Mwathi died was not secured.

The artist was giving his testimony in the inquest into Mwathi’s death before Principal Magistrate Rose Ndobi.

Samidoh told the court that when he went to the said apartment along Lumumba Drive in Roysambu the following day, there were still people inside.

During cross-examination by the deceased’s lawyer Danstan Omari, Samidoh, who is also a police officer, told the court that he visited the scene in company of other officers and his brother.

“When we got there, there were three ladies and two men in house,” the artist testified.

Mwathi died mysteriously on 22nd February 2023, at the Roysambu apartment of Mugithi singer Lawrence Njuguna, popularly known as DJ Fatxo.

Samidoh added that the deceased had been contracted to do some work for DJ Fatxo and was excited about it.

He said that he was informed that the deceased, the DJ and the other five people found in the apartment had been drinking the previous night but denied allegations that his nephew was suicidal.

“I was not aware of any suicidal attempts,” the artist told the court.

It was his testimony that the deceased was jovial young man who was excited about life.

According to the witness, the deceased may have been pushed out the window to his death since the space he is said to have fallen from was high up the window and no evidence was adduced to indicate he could have stood on something to reach the said space.

“We have lost a loved one, we just want to know how he died,” Samidoh said.
