Popular prison warden Jackson Kuria Kihara alias Shakur The Cop has been arraigned in court after posting a photo of himself calling on people to protest against government abductions.
Shakur was on 15th January 2025 at his staff residence at Kamiti Maximum Prison.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) want the court to issue custodial orders to detain him for 21 days to conclude investigations.
According to an affidavit by Police Constable Meshak Mutinda, the DCI is investigating the offense of inciting a mutiny and publication of false information.
In addition, PC Mutinda claims that Shakur may interfere with investigations if released at the moment.
“Being that the said respondent is a prison warden, he is trained in the use of different firearms hence has the capacity to interfere with investigations,” the investigator told the court.
The investigating officer states that he needs to have the posts by the suspects subjected to forensic investigations.
He further notes that he needs time to analyze digital evidence owing to the fact that the posts are spread through Shakur’s different social media platforms.
The court heard that to prevent interference with investigations the investigators need to ensure that the social media accounts are secure so that Shakur does not have access to them so he does not interfere with investigations.
