Dickson Njanja Mararo who is accused of shooting two police officers and a waitress at Quiver Lounge along Thika Road has been charged with attempted murder.

The accused was charged with the attempted murder of officers Festus Musyoka and Lawrence Muturi and Felistas Nzisa who works at the said club.

The court heard that the accused committed the offence on 2nd July 2021 at around 10 PM.

He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku.

The prosecution applied to have the accused remanded to allow the investigating officer to file an application opposing his release on bail.

However, CM Mutuku transferred the matter to another court which will hear the bail application on Tuesday 20th. His lawyer Cliff Ombeta opposed the application to deny his client bail on grounds that the prosecution did not give any compelling reasons.

Ombeta told the court that his client has been in custody for the last seven days and the prosecution had ample time to file the affidavit in question.

The court heard one of the victims, Musyoka, who is still in hospital is yet to record a statement as he is still in a coma. The other two were treated and discharged.

The court ruled that the affidavit by the investigating officer is crucial and ordered the accused to be remanded at Gigiri police station until Tuesday.
