Sabaki man charged with defrauding Syokimau land buyers over Sh 5M

A man has been charged with defrauding land buyers over Sh 5.6 million for Syokimau plots.

Benjamin Mulwa Muia is accused of obtaining Sh 3 million from Siratho Mohamed Abdi falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell her a one acre piece of land plot number 611 in property LR no.345/30 situated in Syokimau, a fact he knew to be false.

Muia, who resides in Sabaki, is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 19th July 2022 and 30th April 2023 in Nairobi County.

In addition, the accused person is also charged with obtaining Sh 1,064,910 from Abdullahi Ahmed Roble by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell to him the same property.

He is alleged to have committed this offense on diverse dates between 17th October 2022 and 3rd January 2023 in Nairobi, with intent to defraud.

Lastly, Muia is charged with obtaining Sh 2,610,000 from Abdullahi Mohamed Hassan by pretending he could sell him the said land.

He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe and was released on a cash bail of Sh 200,000.

The case will be mentioned on 23rd February 2025.
