Two Sudanese nationals have been charged with assaulting a man in a mall, leaving him hospitalized.
The brothers, Dak Kuong alias Deng Malua and Lual John alias Kudui John are accused of unlawfully causing grievous harm to Badhudin Osman Omar.
It is alleged that the two committed the offense on 27th October 2024 at the Village Market Shopping Mall in Westlands sub-county, Nairobi.
Kuong and John denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.
Each of the accused persons was granted a cash bail of Sh 100,000 and ordered to provide one Kenyan contact person.
The accused persons have been in custody for more than two weeks while the police continued with investigations.
The police told the court that they needed more time to conclude investigations since the victim who was hospitalized, had not recorded a statement.
The court heard that the two were likely to interfere with investigations and a flight risk should they be released on bail before conclusion of investigations.
Omar is said to have been discharged last week after being admitted for several days.
The case will be mentioned on 27 November 2024.
