A man accused of robbing unsuspecting Kenyans by pretending to be a traffic police officer has been charged.

Ezekiel Muiya Mutuku alias Macho is facing robbery with violence and possession of public stores charges after being caught on camera robbing a businessman.

Mutuku is accused of robbing Patel Kashyakumar Khantibhai Sh 999,000 and immediately before and immediately after the time of such robbery used actual violence him.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offense on 28th June, 2025 at First Parklands Avenue, Parklands area in Nairobi .

In addition, Mutuku is accused that on the 2nd July 2025 at Ronald Ngara street in Eldoret,  jointly with others not before court,  had in his possession public stores namely; a Cap Peak with a white canvas Cap cover and a National police service Crown badge the property of National Police Service reasonably suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Ben-Mark Ekhubi.

The accused person will remain in custody until 15th July pending hearing of an application opposing his release on bail.
