Suspected armed robbers lynched by the public in Muguga, Kiambu County

Two men suspected to be part of a gang that has been terrorizing the residents of Muguga in Kiambu County succumbed on Saturday morning after being lynched by members of the public.

The incident occurred around 11 am after the suspects were allegedly found hiding in a farm by the owner’s daughter.

It is alleged that the girl spotted the two unfamiliar faces roasting maize in their firm and rushed to inform her father who raised an alarm.

Within minutes, a crowd had gathered and managed to corner the suspects whom they allegedly recognized as part of a gang that had been terrorising Muguga and its surroundings.

The crowd administered mob injustice on the suspects who they accused of being involved in a stint of robbery incidents, some of which involved attacking and stabbing victims during early morning and evening hours.

Locals said the attacks have been on the rise around 5.00 a.m. and also from 7.00 p.m when darkness strikes, leaving them living in fear.

It is alleged that a man was killed during a robbery incident in the same area about two weeks ago, a case that heightened tension and anger in the community.

By the time police officers arrived at the scene, the two suspects had already succumbed to their injuries.

The residents expressed frustration over what they described as delayed police response to crime reports and inadequate security patrols in the area, forcing them to take the law into their own hands.

They called upon the police to increase patrols and ensure swift action against criminal activities in Muguga.

The bodies of the deceased were moved to the mortuary for forensic investigations.
