The Nairobi Anti-Corruption Court has acquitted suspended Bomas of Kenya CEO Peter Gitaa Koria of graft charges.

Principal Magistrate Celesa Okore ruled that the prosecution had failed to prove the case against him.

Koria was arrested and charged in April 2024 with willful failure to comply with the law relating to procurement by engaging in a procurement process without an approved budget.

The alleged procurement was in relation to quotation of kitchen items and utensils amounting to Sh 8.6 million during the financial year 2020/2021.

Karia was also accused of failing to appoint an Ad hoc inspection and acceptance committee in relation to the quotation of the said items.

Trial Magistrate Okore ruled that there was no malice in the procurement process adding that the prosecution hays failed to provide sufficient evidence to support the claims.

“Considering the evidence before me, I find that the prosecution did not prove a prima facie case against the accused in all the seven counts,” the magistrate ruled.
