Three directors of Tareef Enterprises Limited have failed to plead to fraud charges in a Sh 14 million business deal following an order issued by the High Court.

Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi heard that the High Court had issued orders prohibiting the Director of Public Prosecution from preferring charges against them.

Ahmed Mohammed Karshe, Ali Sheikh Hassan and Abdulaziz Mohamed Karshe were released and ordered to appear in court again on 14th October 2024 for directions.

Justice Esther Maina issued the orders pending the hearing and determination of the civil dispute.

According to the application, the directors were being sought by known police officers from Kayole Police Station with the blessings of the DCIO without reasonable cause.

The court heard that on 5th of February 2024, the directors were summoned by the DCIO Embakasi Police Station to record statements regarding their company where they had a business agreement to be supplied with road construction material by another company called Tradents Construction Works Company Limited.

However, the DCIO found that the issue was purely a civil issue hence directed the parties to explore civil remedies in the matter.

This led Tafeef Enterprises to agree to pay Tradents their dues through installments in an agreement dated the 5th of February 2024.
