Two charged with conspiracy to defraud Mwananchi Credit Sh 3M

Two Kisumu residents have been charged with conspiracy to defraud Mwananchi Credit Limited over Sh 3 million by selling a mortgaged vehicle.

Levick Onyango Ochieng and Bernard Ochieng Ongoya are accused of conspiring to defraud the lender Sh 3,186,800 by illegally selling a motor vehicle registration no. KDM 668J while still under mortgage.

The duo is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse

dates between 7th December, 2023 and 20th June, 2024 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with others not before court.

Ochieng is also facing the charge of fraudulent disposition of mortgaged goods while Ongoya is accused of stealing vehicle parts, to wit, the registration number of the mortgaged vehicle.

The two denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.

The case will be mentioned on 3rd March 2025.
